Interactive Tool To Balance California’s Budget Deficit…

Living in California, must people are aware of the doomsday bells ringing about the state’s fiscal crisis, but for the most part the general feeling is – why can’t these elected officials in California’s legislature agree on anything already?!!??

After playing around with this Interactive Tool from the LA Times, I can definitely see now the daunting task these elected officials are facing. This very well done tool both educates you on the issues at hand but also allows you try and balance the deficit yourself. As you can see from my attempt below, I thought I was on a roll until I came up with some very tough scenarios that I’m still thinking about. Do I cut Medicaid or increase Corporate Taxes?  Or do I cut K-14 Funds?  Definitely challenging (and depressing) and I’m still $6 billion away from my goal….
